You want to read about me? Really? I’m so flattered, thank you!
My name is Ivy. I cook. I eat. While I eat I think about the next meal that I will cook. It’s a circle.
Some facts about me:
I am 33 years old. I live on Bainbridge Island (near Seattle) with my husband Robert and my daughter Lola. They like to eat too. I went to cooking school, first in Seattle and then in San Francisco, and I am trained as a pastry chef, but now I cook most everything. I have worked in restaurants and done other food related work for money, but for the last six years I have been focused on being a mama. I am at a turning point in my life now where I need to get back to paying work but the jobs I have done in the past either don’t fit in with the rest of my life anymore, or they just don’t appeal to me. I am coming back to the real world after being very child focused and trying to discover who I am now and what I want my “career” to be. Really and truly I just want to cook for the people I love. I want to cook for them and make them feel good and happy and healthy and cherished. I am blessed to have friends who cook for me too, and nothing makes me feel more full of life than sharing a thoughtfully prepared meal with the ones I care for.
I live in a little tiny funky house with an apple orchard in front. Robert and Lola and I, we love our tiny house, but it is a little too tiny, and a little too funky so we are building a new house which will be done…?…sometime. Some days I can’t imagine ever leaving this idyllic place we are now and then I think of how much work and love is going into the new house and how much I will like waking up there. And I will have a dishwasher. A machine that washes dishes! And that, my friends, will change my life.
I’m just not sure what else to say about myself. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them.
If you have discovered my blog and you like it, please leave me a comment. I love to know who is reading.
